Thursday 3/28 & Friday 3/29

NO ARTIFACT TODAY!

Today we will be learning how to "extrude along a line"  We will be using polygons and CV Curves to create hair or tentacle looking extrusions.  See below for directions.

Wednesday 3/27

3A- We will create our mini lesson Path animation by creating a path (cv curve) and attaching your car (that you made in the beginning of the year).  See directions below.

Monday 3/26 & Tuesay 3/27

Make up Day!

Today you will use class time to finish up any work you have not yet completed.  That includes work that is past due.  Email me any make up work and sign your name to the sheet in the room so that I know you have turned it in!

Friday 3/22

Students will finish up lesson 3 in animation: Path Animation.  Email it to me when you are finished.

Mini Lesson: Path Animation.  Take the car that you created for your very first lesson in this class.  Create a path for your car to drive along using a CV Curve.  When you attach your car to the motion path, remember you must group your object together BEFORE you attach it.  Use what you learned in Lesson 3 by using your timeslider plus your UValues for your motion path to make your car do something other than just move along the path.  Create some twist and turns, some places your car speeds up or slows down.  The sky is the limit....GO!

Things to work on today:
  1. Finish Animation 3: Path Animation
  2. Work on Path Animation Mini Lesson
TUESDAY WILL BE A MAKE UP DAY!  IF YOU ARE CAUGHT UP WITH EVERYTHING, BRING SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE, MIND STRENGTHEN, EDUCATIONAL TO DO.

Wednesday 3/20 & Thursday 3/21

Today students will finish their ball and door (lesson 2) animation if they have not done so yet.  There is not a mini lesson after lesson 2 because it was so short!  We will incorporate Driver/Driven animation in another mini lesson.

When you are done with lesson 2, you need to move on to Lesson 3 in animation: Path Animation.  This scene is already set up for you, just load it from the student share OR download it from the Tutorials website.  In this lesson you will be dealing with not only your path but also the timeslider.  Therefore, pay attention to the numbers they give you in your directions to make sure they are correct!  When you are finished, email that lesson to me!

Tuesday 3/19

Students need to finish Mini Lesson Keyframing if they haven't done so already.  When student are ready, they need to move on to Lesson 2 in Animation.  This lesson does NOT require opening a pre-made scene.  Please just make the two object and animate them using the Driver/Driven animation instead of the timeslider.  In this lesson you will need to "key" the object only three times to have a complete animation.  Make sure you also add a color to each of the objects you made.

Lesson 2 in Animation is extremely short.  When you are finished with Lesson 2- think about how you could use the Driver/Driven animation in a mini lesson.  You will be using this type of animation in a mini lesson coming up.

When you complete anything, please email it to me.

ARTiFacts! #14

Friday, March 15, 2013

Friday 3/15 & Monday 3/18

Today students will finish their Keyframing Mini Lesson.  Remember the requirements:  Your object that you make to "fly" around your scene must be made up of at least 6 different shapes or curves and you must have at least 30 stop frames in your timeslider (that is your little red lines that show up after you press "S)

Friday's ARTiFact is Pagoda

Friday, March 8, 2013

Friday 3/8 & Monday 3/11

Today students need to finish Animation Lesson 1, if they are not finished yet, and then move on to today's Mini Lesson: Keyframes.  Directions are all listed below!  Click on the Slide to make it larger!  Email any complete assignments!

Tuesday, March 5, 2013

Wednesday 3/6 & Thursday 3/7

*4B- Your ARTiFact is #12- Banksy!

Today we will being our Animation Unit!  We will start out class by an all class "on your own" animation assignment and after you are done with what is listed below, you will begin Lesson 1 in Animation: Keyframing.

First "on your own" Animation assignment:  Create a sphere (either Polygon or NURBS) to create a ball of your choice (beach ball, basketball, etc).  You will need to animate this sphere so it bounces up and down three times.  In addition to just bouncing it, think about what happens to the shape of the ball as it hits the ground and bounces back up.  There is air compression that happens inside of the ball....capture that in your animation!   Don't forget about the tools you have learned so far!!!
EMAIL WHEN FINISHED: duffyohs@gmail.com

Remember the steps to adding keyframes:
1) select frame   2) move object   3) press "S"  4) Repeat

Then move on to lesson 1 in Animation!
*HINT* When you are using your graph editor, use your MIDDLE MOUSE BUTTON to move points!

When you are done with Lesson 1: Keyframes- EMAIL IT TO ME!

If you are done early, find something productive to do.  If you would like, you may start building and object to animate for next class!  Please know that you will be animating the object as one and "flying" it around your scene.  You will not be moving parts, like making a skeleton walk...yet!  So build something you can animate together, similar to your car model.  Examples: Airplane, rocket, kite, vehicle (don't use your car, we will be using your car design for another animation unit!), etc.  Use your imagination!  You can make something up if you would like...just make it interesting!!
